Three-year Degree Course in Industrial Engineering and Naval Systems – Politecnico di Bari
The Degree Course in Industrial Engineering and Naval Systems of the Polytechnic of Bari is delivered in Italian in agreement with the Italian Navy, in presence, at the Non-Commissioned Officers School of the Navy in Taranto. The course includes classroom lessons, laboratory and internship training activities closely interacting with the Navy and the world of work.
To be admitted to the Degree Course, it is necessary to pass the CISIA TOLC-I Test. The first date to take the test is June 13th.
All entries must be given by June 7th, 14:00.

Educational Objectives
The degree course aims to train engineers who by the end of the course will be able to competently use the most advanced industrial technologies for the production and repair of industrial and marine vessels and systems nationally and internationally.
Venue
The lessons of the course are provided at the Non-Commissioned Officers School of the Navy in Taranto.
Duration
The estimated duration for the completion of this course is 3 years.
Language
Lessons, seminars and workshops are held in Italian.
Admission
Civilian (non-military) students are admitted after passing the TOLC-I, the CISIA On-Line Test for Engineering.
The first year is dedicated to providing a solid foundation. The second and third years, dedicated to technical and multidisciplinary training, will offer students the opportunity to direct their training specifically towards the manufacturing and naval sectors, with particular reference to management and maintenance issues also in response to the needs of the Navy and of the employment realities of the Ionian territory and the Apulia Region in the naval and nautical sectors.

Skills
The industrial and naval systems engineer is typically capable of carrying out management and maintenance functions of plants, infrastructures and services in the various fields of industrial engineering and naval engineering, with the ability to support their design in compliance with the impact economic, environmental and social consequences. The Industrial and Naval Systems engineer is also able to:
- carry out support tasks for the modeling and analysis of mechanical, electrical and energy systems
- face and solve design problems, using an interdisciplinary approach and methods of analysis and solution of engineering problems
The Industrial and Naval Systems engineer is also in possession of the skills associated with various professional roles such as:
- Junior engineer responsible for the management and control of processes, systems and equipment in the manufacturing and naval industry;
- Junior engineer in charge of the maintenance, testing, installation and repair of devices and equipment on board the vessel;
- Junior design engineer of manufacturing processes and naval industry;
- Junior designer engineer of energy systems, mechanical, electrical, electronic components and devices and telecommunications systems.
Outcomes Prospects
Graduates in Industrial Engineering and Naval Systems will find employment at:
- technical corps of the armed forces for the maintenance and management of marine and submarine units;
- industrial companies in the mechanical, electrical, naval sectors, in the production, customer assistance and sales departments;
- military and civil shipyards and arsenals for the construction and repair of ships, boats and marine and submarine vessels;
- marine vessel repair shops;
- shipping companies to support fleet management and maintenance;
- industries for the exploitation of marine resources, for the management and maintenance of the fleet;
- classification registers and surveillance authorities with inspectorate functions;
- supplier companies of naval systems as support to the design;
- professional studies.
More generally, graduates will be able to carry out professional activities in the industrial and information area, in particular in companies that deal with:
- energy production systems and plants for powering industrial processes;
- energy production systems and plants for naval propulsion and on-board auxiliary services;
- technologies for the maintenance, control and management of naval vessels, mechanical systems and devices, machines and electrical systems in both the industrial and naval fields;
- construction and installation of systems, devices, mechanical and electrical components in the manufacturing and naval sectors;
- digital technologies for the assessment and management of industrial and naval processes and infrastructures.

Subsequent Training
At the end of the three-year course, the graduate will be able to access, according to current legislation, the master’s degree courses in Engineering, the first level University Masters, work both in the freelance profession and in companies in the sector and in civil public administration and armed forces, also in the international arena, synergistically combining technical-engineering skills and knowledge with organisational and coordination skills. In particular, three-year graduates can continue their studies with one of the Master’s Degrees of the Polytechnic of Bari in the related sectors of Industrial and Information Engineering, which are provided at the Department of Mechanics, Mathematics and Management and the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering.
